Observe:
AFIRMATIVO | EXEMPLO | TRADUÇÃO |
There is / There’s há, existe | There’s an Indian boy in my classroom. | Háum home theater no meu quarto. |
There are há, existem | There are 6 chairs in my living room. There are two shopping malls in my city. | Há6 cadeiras na minha sala de estar. Há dois shoppings na minha cidade. |
A negativa funciona apenas com a flexão do verbo To be:
There is = There isn’t
There are = There aren’t
NEGATIVO | EXEMPLO | TRADUÇÃO |
There is NOT / There isn’t | There isn’t a home theater in my bedroom.T here isn’t any Indian boy in my classroom. |
There are not/ There aren’t | There aren’t 6 chairs in my living room .There aren’t two shopping malls in my city. |
Na interrogativa, segue-se a mesma lógica do To be: invertemos a ordem do To Be com o There:
There is = Is there…?
There are = Are there…?
INTERROGATIVO | EXEMPLO | TRADUÇÃO |
Is There? | Is there a home theater in your bedroom? Is there any Indian boy in your classroom? |
Are there? | Are there 6 chairs in your living room? Are there two shopping malls in your city? | Há 6 cadeiras na sua sala de estar? Há dois shoppings na sua cidade? |
